The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) is hosting an “IADC Onshore Drilling 101” Lunch and Learn event at noon today at 406 Dirksen/EPW Committee Hearing Room. Onshore IADC members will present information about the role of the drilling contractor in the well construction process and will present industry safety data and feature a discussion on environmental stewardship.

“IADC and its members are looking forward to working with Administrator Pruitt on a wide variety of high-profile regulations that carry with them the ability to deeply impact oil and gas activities in this country. Given his background, and his Oklahoma roots, we expect that Administrator Pruitt has a unique understanding of our industry and the vitally important role it plays in the U.S. economy.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of H.J.RES. 38 which is a Congressional Review Act resolution to nullify U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) rule, “Waste Prevention, Production Subject to Royalties, and Resource Conservation.” This rule regulated methane emissions via venting and flaring limitations on public and Indian lands. Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources voted to advance President Trump’s nomination of Rick Perry for Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) and Ryan Zinke for Secretary of the Department of Interior to the full U.S. Senate for confirmation.

The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) recently launched Drilling Matters, a new multimedia website that aims to inform, educate and dispel misconceptions about the oil and gas industry.

As a Member of Congress representing Montana, Rep. Zinke has a unique understanding of the importance of public lands, and in his appointed position, he will have control over federal lands and will regulate offshore energy development. Advancing U.S. energy should be at the forefront of the new administration’s energy policy, and IADC and its members look forward to the opportunity to work with Rep. Zinke on initiatives that will continue to enable the U.S. to be an energy powerhouse.

The selection of Scott Pruitt to the role of Administrator of the EPA indicates a clear focus of the incoming administration to foster oil and gas development in the United States.
