There are many exciting updates to share from the IADC University of Boumerdes (UMBB) Student Chapter. The Chapter officially launched its YouTube podcast series, IADC Talks. In the inaugural episode, “GETTING TO KNOW IADC,” Imed Eddine Chaguetmi, the Chapter’s Founder and Former Chair, interviews Mike DuBose, IADC Sr. VP – International Development, and Hisham Zebian, IADC VP – Eastern Hemisphere.
In the episode, they discuss:
- IADC’s mission and its pivotal role in shaping industry safety, innovation, and global standards
- Personal stories and career advice from Mike and Hisham, including their journeys from the field to IADC leadership
- How IADC empowers future leaders through its student chapters, with a special message for students
The UMBB Student Chapter also recently participated in an Open Day event hosted by the Faculty of Hydrocarbons and Chemistry-UMBB. This event provided excellent opportunities for students to learn more about the oil and gas industry, as well as the school’s scientific groups and clubs. Additionally, the Chapter hosted its General Assembly. The session was filled with insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and strategic planning for the upcoming year, along with fun moments and an exciting quiz.
The Chapter recently organized a special training workshop on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) in collaboration with the renowned IFACT – Institut de Formation et d’Amélioration des Conditions de Travail. This workshop emphasized electrical safety, covering the identification and management of electrical risks in the workplace. On a different occasion, Members also had the opportunity to visit the Algerian Petroleum Institute, where they participated in a hands-on session with the advanced drilling simulator. This experience provided them with valuable exposure to cutting-edge petroleum technologies and practical industry insights.
