The IADC Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Student Chapter is hosting the International Rig IQ Showdown (IRIS) 2026 on the UTP campus in Malaysia from 5-7 June 2026. This international student competition challenges university teams in drilling engineering, well control, and rig operations through real-world inspired scenarios, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and industry readiness. Top-performing teams will compete for prizes of up to MYR 2,000. Registration is now open, but slots are limited—teams are encouraged to sign up early online.
IRIS 2026 is also seeking industry sponsors to help make the event a success. Sponsorship opportunities are available in various forms, including financial contributions, technical support, and prize donations. Sponsors will receive branding exposure throughout the competition, recognition among motivated engineering students and academic professionals, and a chance to connect with the next generation of drilling talent.
