From 31 March to 2 April 2026, IADC Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Student Chapter proudly sent over 80 club members and Petroleum Engineering students to attend OTC Asia 2026 at the KLCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This prestigious industry event provided students with an invaluable opportunity to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world energy industry practices.
Throughout the three-day event, students visited exhibition booths by leading industry players to explore the latest technologies, innovations, and services shaping the future of the oil and gas sector. They also attended technical conferences and panel sessions, gaining deeper insight into current industry challenges, emerging trends, and the evolving global energy landscape. Beyond technical exposure, the event also served as a platform for students to engage with industry professionals, experts, and company representatives, fostering meaningful connections and expanding their professional networks.
In addition, the IADC South Central Asia Chapter (SEAC) generously sponsored 12 members of the IADC UTP Student Chapter to attend the IADC SEAC Annual Safety Awards Gala 2025 on 1 April 2026. During the gala, members were entrusted with important responsibilities to ensure the event ran smoothly, including ushering, registration, and emceeing. This experience not only strengthened the students’ event management and communication skills, but also allowed them to witness the industry’s strong commitment to safety excellence firsthand.
Overall, the experience was described by students as highly insightful and enriching, as it connected academic learning with practical industry exposure while reinforcing the importance of professionalism, safety, and continuous growth in the energy sector.
