University of Louisiana Lafayette Petroleum Engineering drilling students visited Energy Drilling rig 14 in September. After learning about rig components the past three weeks on campus, the visit provided students with an opportunity to connect the dots – a true enhancement to their drilling education.
The students were on the rig floor while the BHA and pipe was being run back into the hole. They were given an excellent explanation of the solids control/circulating system while on the pits, draw works, BOP closing procedures at the remote closing unit, and remote choke operation, among other aspects of the operation.
