Last month, 26 IADC Student Chapter Members had the opportunity to tour the semisubmersible unit VALARIS 8503 in Galveston, Texas while they were in town for the IADC/SPE International Drilling Conference. For many of these next-gen drilling professionals, it was their first time setting foot on an offshore drilling rig.
Valaris crew members provided a comprehensive tour, offering students an up-close look at the intricate workings of a semisubmersible. From the drilling floor to the living quarters, each aspect of the operation was showcased, giving the students a firsthand understanding of the complexities and technical expertise involved in safe and efficient offshore drilling operations.
