The IADC Advanced Rig Technology (ART) Spark Tank is coming back! To encourage innovation in the drilling industry, IADC ART is restarting the Spark Tank event series after a short hiatus since 2020.
The IADC ART Committee is now issuing a call for abstracts/pitches/presenters for the ART Spark Tank, scheduled to be held during the fourth week of August 2025 in Houston, Texas. The deadline for abstracts/pitches/presenters is Tuesday, 24 June.
The Spark Tank is envisioned as a forum to “spark” new thinking. It is an opportunity to provide active and aspiring technology entrepreneurs with a new opportunity to pitch their products and ideas to a panel of drilling contractors, operators, and service companies (“Sharks”).
IADC ART welcomes abstracts on any new technology or concepts that will improve operations in well construction. The purpose is to provide insights (“Sparks”) to technology developers into what matters to those they are innovating for. There is sometimes a vast disconnect between a good idea and a great product, and these events attempt to close that gap in a good-natured, productive manner. This forum is not designed to generate investments in the product or service, however.
The in-person Spark Tank presentations will allow the Sharks to ask questions and provide technical and business feedback from the perspective of the product’s intended end user. The Spark Tank will be moderated by an officer of the Advanced Rig Technology Committee.
