The U.S. Coast Guard recently issued the Gulf of Mexico OCS Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 19-03; Hurricane Season Reporting Requirements. This MSIB continues the Coast Guard’s policy of “report by Exception” initiated in 2014, to account for operators’ Gulf of Mexico OCS hurricane evacuation procedures.
The 8th Coast Guard district is requesting that operators of all manned facilities and MODUs report only when personnel, who otherwise intended to evacuate the unit, were stranded onboard and prevented from evacuating ahead of approaching heavy weather.
