Over 100 Members attended the IADC Permian Basin Chapter’s Extended Reach Laterals Luncheon at Ranchland Hills Golf Club in Midland, Texas on 18 October. Sharing their experience, Chris Jamerson and Constantine ‘Tino’ Haddad opened up an informative discussion about the benefits and challenges of drilling extended reach laterals. They talked about rig software, directional drilling, formation challenges, BHA and mud characteristics, and rig capabilities — because when drilling longer laterals, all these factors must be considered.
