IADC Health Subcommittee Publishes Mental Health at Work Handbook

The Health Subcommittee of the IADC Health, Safety, Environment & Training (HSET) Committee recently published the IADC Mental Health at Work Handbook. This concise handbook is aimed at providing managers and other frontline workers with a guideline for implementing an effective mental health support program.

The development of the handbook came about as the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for more mental health support. Unlike lengthy textbooks, this guide is intentionally brief to encourage readership and practical application.

According to Jarand Hindenes, Chair of the IADC Health Subcommittee and Regional Medical Director at International SOS:

“The IADC Mental Health At Work Handbook is a concise guide tailored to our industry’s unique challenges in this area. Shifting the workplace culture is often a major component of addressing mental health at work, and this takes time, effort, and commitment – from both management and employees. Born from the pandemic’s aftermath, this handbook provides a collection of principles that managers should be familiar with and be ready to apply. With IADC’s backing, we’re sending a clear message: mental health matters in this industry.”
