Members of the IADC MIT Student Chapter in India recently experienced offshore operations firsthand with a visit to Aban Offshore Limited‘s Aban VIII Jack-Up Rig!
During the visit, 21 students and a faculty member explored drilling systems, safety protocols, and day-to-day operations—gaining the kind of insight that only comes from being in the field.
These hands-on experiences are essential for developing the next generation of drilling professionals. We’re grateful to the Aban Offshore team for opening their doors and sharing their expertise, and to everyone who coordinated this valuable learning opportunity. Special thanks to the IADC South Central Asia Chapter Young Professionals Committee for helping facilitate this visit.
This is what industry-academia collaboration looks like in action, connecting the classroom and the rig floor.
