North Sea Chapter Publishes Opinion Piece in Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Business Bulletin

The IADC North Sea Chapter recently published an opinion piece in the September issue (p 88) of the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Bulletin. This article is an excellent example of the North Sea Chapter embodying the voice of the industry in the region.

Some key points the article discusses include:

  • The Chapter’s focus on preventing rig removal or stacking in the UK Continental Shelf to maintain asset capacity, skills, and national energy security during a period of reduced upstream activity
  • The critical importance of retaining well control and well management capabilities, particularly for the significant plug and abandonment (P&A) work expected in 2026/2027
  • Efforts to attract new talent by repositioning drilling careers as part of the broader energy sector and breaking down industry silos to enable transitions between different energy industries
  • The Chapter’s commitment to advocacy and education, including increased engagement with schools, colleges, and universities to shift perceptions about careers in the drilling sector
