U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Votes to Send Scott Pruitt for Full Senate Confirmation; IADC Praises Decision
Houston (2 February 2017) – Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works supported President Donald Trump’s nominee for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Scott Pruitt, for full Senate confirmation. In response, IADC President Jason McFarland issued the following statement:
“What we learned during Mr. Pruitt’s public hearing is that he cares about rule-making and rule-following and believes in the power of the states to regulate their own natural resources. It is an opinion that IADC and its members share, particularly as it relates to issues surrounding oil and gas development and production. In many instances, EPA regulations are duplicative of state efforts and complicate the ability of industry to get on with the work of providing the energy that powers our country and contributes greatly to our economy.”
“Should he be confirmed by the Senate, IADC and its members look forward to working with Mr. Pruitt and his staff at the EPA, and serving as an educative resource during his tenure at the Agency.”
