Leadership

The Association is governed by its Board of Directors, comprised of employees of Drilling Contractor member companies who are elected annually. Responsibilities include confirming annual appointment of IADC’s Officers, reviewing significant organizational changes, and approving annual budget.

The Executive Committee consists of up to 21 Directors and leads the overall direction of the Association, including objectives, structure and operations, making recommendations to the Board of Directors as needed.

Advisory Panels are formed to evaluate issues affecting Members and report those issues to the Executive Committee for consideration and action.

RODDIE MACKENZIE, CHAIR

Transocean

Named to his current position in February 2022, Mr. Mackenzie is responsible for identifying innovative technologies that create demonstrable value for Transocean’s customers and differentiate Transocean from its competitors in addition to leading Transocean’s Marketing organization. Mr. Mackenzie served previously as Senior Vice President, Marketing, Innovation and Industry Relations; Vice President, Marketing and Contracts; Managing Director, Business Development and Strategic Accounts, and as a Marketing Director with increasing roles of responsibility in the United States, France, and Dubai. He brings over 20 years of industry experience and prior to his time in Marketing, Mr. Mackenzie served in various operational and project roles around the globe, starting his career at Transocean as a rig-based engineer in 1997. He has worked on all manner of drilling rigs in Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, Brazil, and the US Gulf of Mexico.

Mr. Mackenzie graduated from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in 2016 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Strathclyde in Civil Engineering with Environmental Studies in 1997.

CHRIS MENEFEE, VICE CHAIR

Cactus Drilling Company

Mr. Menefee, who currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer at Cactus Drilling, is a seasoned executive with 28 years of dedicated experience in the energy industry. His experience spans business management, operations, safety management systems, domestic and international sales & marketing, and investor relations. Mr Menefee holds a B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi at Oxford and a master’s in business administration from The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.

BRAD JAMES, IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIR

Enterprise Offshore Drilling

Mr. James has served as founding President, CEO and Board Member of Enterprise Offshore Drilling LLC since 2016. He previously served as Sr. Vice President – Marketing of Hercules Offshore from 2006 through 2016 and was responsible for managing worldwide marketing activity for Hercules drilling divisions. Prior to that he held various leadership roles at Transocean Offshore (including R&B Falcon and Cliffs Drilling), was founding President of Field Drilling Company and Vice President of Southland Drilling. He currently serves on the IADC Executive Committee and is a board member of IADC Drillers PAC and is a former Chairman of the IADC Houston Chapter. Mr. James obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1981.

NICOLA STEPHEN, SECRETARY/TREASURER

Seadrill Ltd

Nicola Stephen is Director of Corporate Development at Seadrill Limited, where she leads the company’s M&A, Corporate Finance, and Treasury activities. With over 15 years of experience in M&A, commercial finance, and financial reporting, Nicola has led high-value transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, and large-scale capital programs.

Prior to her current role, Nicola held senior positions in Commercial and Group Reporting at Seadrill. In these roles, she managed financial reporting, complex restructuring, and investment projects.

A Chartered Accountant (ICAS), Nicola began her career with Deloitte in the UK and Australia, managing audits and advisory projects for multinational clients. She holds a First-Class Honors degree in Accounting and Finance from Robert Gordon University and has completed executive education at INSEAD.

LEE WOMBLE, DIVISION VP DRILLING SERVICES

Kinetic Pressure Control

Lee Womble has a long history throughout the drilling equipment industry. He is currently the owner of Longhorn Pressure Control, LLC and serves as a Senior Advisor for Kinetic Pressure Control. Prior this position, he served as Vice President and Global Accounts Director for SLB with global responsibility for drilling contractor accounts over all SLB divisions and basins. He joined Cameron Iron Works in 1988 as a Product Design Engineer after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Lee received his registered Professional Engineer license from the State of Texas in 1993 and obtained his first patent in 1994. He has since managed engineering, repair operations, manufacturing, field service and sales. Mr. Womble has since held numerous positions throughout his 37-year career such as Design Engineer, Repair and Sales Mgr., Regional Manager, Director and Vice President. He has lived in locations such as the US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Lee’s passion is to improve both commercial and operational efficiencies amongst the drilling contractor community. Lee has served on committees for API, AADE, IADC and The Joint Industry Task Force. He is currently focused on leading the IADC Drilling Services Advisory Panel and acting as Chairman for the 2026 IADC/SPE Drilling Conference.

PHILIP DALRYMPLE, DIVISION VP NORTH AMERICA ONSHORE

Independence Contract Drilling

Philip has served as Senior Vice President, Operations at Independence Contract Drilling since December 2020. Prior to his current role Philip served as Vice President, Operations. Philip joined the company in January of 2013 where he served in roles with increasing responsibility, including Drilling Superintendent and Operations Manager.

Prior to joining the company, Philip was employed at Rowan Companies Inc., where he was a lead project engineer overseeing construction of offshore drilling rigs from 2010 until 2013. Philip served in roles with increasing responsibility in Rowan’s drilling operations, including Rig Manager and Safety Specialist. Philip holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors.

SHAWN VIGEANT, DIVISION VP OFFSHORE

Transocean

Shawn Vigeant is Head of Business Development, Customer Engagement and Industry Relations on a Worldwide basis at Transocean. Over his 30+ years in the upstream energy business, Mr. Vigeant worked around the globe in increasing roles of responsibility in the areas of engineering, operations, projects, contracts, marketing, business development and most recently industry relations. Prior to joining Transocean, he served as Director of Marketing & Sales for Ensco (North and South America Business Unit). Prior to that, He lead global marketing and contracts at Pride International. Shawn started his offshore drilling career with Diamond Offshore as a roustabout and worked his way up through the Operations Management / Accelerated Development Program, then graduated on to Engineering/Projects and then Marketing. Mr. Vigeant has a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Houston. He has also attended a number of continuing executive education programs at Rice University. Shawn is a board member of the Energy Education Foundation EEF , Houston Chapter of the IADC and a member of the IADC global offshore advisory panel; a member of the API and NOIA and also an active supporter of both Spindletop Charities, NextGen and redM.

Mr. Vigeant has an extensive global network of customers, suppliers and competitors at multi levels including C Level and Sr. Management. He has a proven track record in strategy development and execution and a dynamic, engaging and collaborative outgoing personality with the tenacity and commitment needed to nurture relationships while maintaining the ability to get things done. He has significant domestic and international experience, including leading projects and more recently negotiating commercial deals and drilling contracts throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, South America and Mexico. He has managed teams as small as 3 and as large as 300. Because of his engineering and operations experience, Mr. Vigeant has a great base understanding of the upstream sector to compliment his commercial expertise and professional network.

MICHAEL STRAUSS, DIVISION VP INTERNATIONAL ONSHORE

Ensign Energy Services

Michael Strauss is the Vice President MENA for Ensign Energy Services based in Dubai. He joined Ensign Energy Services in November 2015 as Vice President for the MENA region and is responsible for the overall performance of the business unit. Prior to joining Ensign, he has worked for KCA DEUTAG and Weatherford/WDI. Michael has over 30 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry in senior operational, commercial and financial leadership roles and has lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. He has been active in the IADC for many years serving on various conference and other committees.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from the VWA in Muenster and also holds an MBA from Purdue University.
